In May we had a couple big events for our residents. For Mother’s Day we had “Muffins & Music with Moms.” Our residents got to enjoy live music by a new entertainment group called “Moon Glow,” eat muffins, drink juice and enjoy family and friends. All the ladies received special Mother’s Day gifts to brighten their day. Sharon Cox from “Moon Glow” entertainment was impressed with Lorie (activity director). Sharon stated, “I hope you’re still around when I need a place like this someday, as I know I will because my mother had Alzheimer’s. This place is beautiful and you really did a wonderful job making all the residents feel special.” Having events where family and friends come in and can enjoy time with their loved ones is important to residents to help enrich their lives and make them feel special.

We also had our annual Pegasus Pony visit on May 16th. Even though the weather wasn’t the best our residents still enjoyed petting the ponies, eating muffins, and having hot cocoa outside in the courtyard. Pegasus Project now offers visits to senior care facilities around Yakima. These visits are two hours long, and they bring two of their super special ponies to visit with the residents. This program is currently being offered free of charge to the facilities, but they are looking for sponsors to help keep this program free. To contact the Pegasus Project please call 509-965-6990.
