Hello, from Wendy the Dining Director! My goal is to incorporate the MIND diet into our menu, so you will be seeing changes in the menu items. The MIND diet is a blend of the DASH diet and the Mediterranean diet, and as the name implies, is intended to promote a healthy mind and lower the risk of Alzheimer’s. The diet focuses on 10 healthy food groups including fish, poultry, whole grains, nuts, olive oil, leafy greens, and wine.
The MIND diet recommends eating fish once per week. This applies to all fish, but more so fatty fishes that are very rich in Omega 3 fats, which are great for brain health. The MIND diet says white meat should be traded out for red meat at least two times per week. Researchers say eating three or more servings of whole grain per day and five servings of nuts per day will help reduce the chances of Alzheimer’s.
