December was full to the brim with fun last month! Issaquah Memory Care shared, “We laughed, we cried, we laughed some more. Congratulations to all the winners from our annual staff ‘Holiday Marty,’ (defined as a combination of a whole lotta party and just a little bit of meeting, most commonly held during the holiday season.)
This year’s festivities started with a challenging competition to make reindeer antlers by stuffing balloons into panty hose—don’t laugh, it’s harder than it sounds! Next came a chance to wrap up the old and welcome the new, as Scott shared his appreciation his for two-plus years as leader of the team and introduced us to our new Executive Director, Wendy Adams. Last, but certainly not least, comes the best part: fabulous prizes! With over 40 exciting or exciting-ish prizes, everyone had a chance to take something home. Special shout-outs to the big winners: Kela Broome and Alicia Hiibner, who both received a shiny new Smart TV, and Margarita Polanco who picked up a pair of Apple Earbuds that her husband Daniel was eyeing as they headed out the door.
On behalf of the entire director’s team here in Issaquah, thanks to everyone who works tirelessly to make the best possible life for our residents. Let’s have some more fun this year!
Grandridge provided a lot of yumminess in the breakroom for their employees throughout December and had fun with Secret Santa gifts. Our staff Christmas party was a hoot, with a lively “white elephant” gift exchange and a vast array of amazing door prizes, along with a delicious potluck. They also had an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest with their residents choosing the ugliest sweater during lunchtime. Congratulations to Melrae for winning that contest!
Wenatchee MC had a blast with Spirit Week with two winners for most participation and most creative. They also enjoyed a gingerbread house and cookie competition. January will include a secret exchange of coffee mugs with coffee cards.
Cornell Landing had a fun holiday party with Santa (a resident volunteered himself as Santa), and the staff brought amazing potluck dishes to share. Next month is January Health Month, focusing on promoting healthy breaks in the gym, hydration, a good diet, and more. Love it!
Do you recognize these cuties from Olympia Memory Care? They had an elfin Fieldstone Friday Elf dress-up day where staff dressed up like characters from the movie Elf. Their staff holiday party was a hit with prime rib dinner, a DJ, and a photo booth!
For this month’s fun, Kennewick MC is playing Bingo and having pizza and soda pop at the All Staff meeting.
Great job, Fun Committees!
