Bob Keplinger was born in 1928 in Richmond, Virginia. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He fought in the Korean War and proudly wears his Korean War Veteran hat on a daily basis. After his service in the Marines, he began his career as a Deputy Sheriff for Benton County. Later, he moved to Hollywood and started working for DesiLu Studios (think Desi and Lucy—yes, as in “I Love Lucy”), which eventually became Paramount Pictures! Bob worked there for over 30 years as the Chief of Security. During his time there, he got to meet and become friends with all of the big movie stars and, wow—does he ever have the best, colorful stories of the glory days of old Hollywood! A highlight of his career was being chosen to guard and provide security for Princess Margaret of England on her trip to the USA in 1963. While working hard and enjoying his career, Bob also raised a son and daughter as a single father.

He has certainly filled his 90 years with thrill and adventure. Bob has lived with us at Grandridge since we opened our doors in 2016, and he has always enjoyed bringing his Big Band music out to the lobby to share with fellow residents and loves talking about old Hollywood. If you’re ever at Fieldstone Grandridge, be sure to look for Bob in his Korean War veteran’s hat. He loves to tell his exciting stories of old Hollywood and loves to share his vast music and movie collection. Bob is a special part of our Grandridge family, and we are honored he considers Grandridge home.
